Spring is here! Just kidding. - 3/21/2010
Built this snowman in the back yard yesterday (note the boat sandbox in the yard- there's the water ski tie-in right there). After an awesome week of snow/ice-melting temps in the 60's, winter decided to pay us a quick visit. The good news, however, is that as I type this the temp is nearing 40 and the snow is once again reverting back to liquid form.
Next weekend we will begin our near-annual American road trip straight down through the heart of the midwest. Our trusty SUV will gobble up a total of about 2000 miles of interstate transporting my family and our gear to ski school and back. There's something about living out of a car for 2 days straight as you drive across the country that is just awesome and uniquely American. Should be fun.
I'm going to be doing my anti-rain dance all week in hopes that we avoid near-cataclysmic bow-echo thunderstorms this time. A few years back- maybe in 2003 or so, I recall having day after day of pure high-pressure weather with temps in the 80's down there. Let's shoot for that this year. I dug back into the archives and found this pic from that particular trip. I want.
Like last year, I will reporting on-site as much as possible. I hope to take a whole bunch of video as well in hopes of cranking out another FifteenoffTV episode. Stay Tuned! In the mean time, check out last year's ski school coverage:

Deke, 3/22/2010: Joel,I'm so jealous! Good weather or bad you'll have a great time. Just treat it as an "adventure" and enjoy the journey. Look forward to your reports.

jhughes, 3/22/2010: Thanks Deke. Can't wait. Here's a bonus question: can anyone spot the differences between that 2003 photo and that same vantage point today? There are at least 2 major differences.
h2oski1326, 3/24/2010: Joel,
Enjoy the trip, the weather was starting to warm up while we were there. Fingers crossed it stays nice for you.
