OJ XMP 13x15.5 RHC 4-Blade Prop - 3/9/2008
I'll be trying out an XMP CNC propeller from OJ Props this spring. This prop is basically a CNC version of their ever-popular13 X 16 RC FORCE 4-blade propeller. This prop has .090 cup.
Right out of the box I have to say that this prop looks awesome- it's a piece of art just sitting there on the floor. I'm currently running an ACME 422 4-blade that I've been fairly happy with but it never hurts to try out new stuff! These OJ XMP props favor an elephant-ear blade shape over ACME's more angular blades, for what its worth.
I'll be updating this review in the spring when I can get this prop on the boat and run it around a bit. I'll be looking at holeshot, top speed, speed holding in the course, and wake firmness/shape. Stay tuned!
I tested this prop on a private lake in the course. This prop was smooth and had similar numbers in top-end speed and acceleration to my ACME 422. What's nice about this prop is that it spins about 200RPM less than the ACME, putting my WOT RPM at around 4650 instead of around 4850. So, you might conserve a bit of gas with this prop and apparently the lower RPM at skiing speeds alters the wake favorably, although I never skied behind the boat with this prop on it.
